So, what is everyone wishing for this year? Is there one piece of clothing, gear, pair of shoes, gadget, etc. that you are dying to find under the tree (or minora) this year? I'm trying to put together a little list of my own and thought there are probably a ton of great ideas out there. I also wonder what some of the things you train or race with that you could not live without. I'm a gear whore and gadget geek, so I am always on the lookout for the newest and greatest!
Is it getting cold yet? It is here! A couple of inches of snow this week reminded everyone that winter is an unavoidable reality. It can be a shocking reality. It really breaks my heart for the folks that love fall. My poor Halloween pumpkin jumped of the table when he saw the first few flakes of the white stuff fall.
Tragic...

Sigh
We have officially entered the post race season, at least in the more northern latitudes. It's depressing. There are literally months until racing will become accessible again. What on earth is a girl to do in the mean time? Oh sure, there will be a Turkey Trot and maybe even a Jingle Bell Run, but somehow it's just not the same.
While in the intense weeks of a training block, I often find myself pining for easier days and the off season. Now I am here and I want out. I'm already looking at the 2008 calendar, trying to figure out what races I can fit in between research cruises, committee meetings, and that nagging little dissertation. It's probably too early to start building for an August Half Ironman, isn't it? Nuts...that's what I was afraid of.

Hardware...seriously?
Much to my surprise, I recently discovered that I placed 3rd in my age group at the Tri-Cities marathon. Personally, I think there must be some mistake or my age group was comprised of either snails or runners who felt it was necessary to stop and take a nap along the way. Regardless of the reason, it seems to be true and apparently there is some hardware heading my way. Who knew?
