... Rain with snow mixing for tonight...

A small area of cooler air will be moving into Kodiak
area late this evening. This pool of cooler air will
bring the overnight temperatures to the lower 30's on
parts of Kodiak Island. Light rain may mix with snow
at times, but no accumulation is expected below a 1000
feet. Above a 1000 feet up to an inch of accumulation
is possible. This area of cool air moves through quickly
and temperatures will be back up near 50 for Friday.

Residents should take approprite precautions when hiking
at or above 1000 foot elevations.

Although a hard freeze is not likely delecate plants
should be covered or taken inside.

Steelman Bikes

A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend...oh you get the idea, is selling her custom carbon fiber Steelman bike.
I don't know much about these bikes, but apparently this one was custom built for $11K and I can get it for $4500.
Here are the specs:
Shimano Ultegra compact Road Kit with
Fulcrum Racing 3 Wheels. 165 MM Compact Crankset 34-50. Ritchey Pro
Bar 40 CM, Ritchey 9CM Stem, Ritchey Pro Carbon seat post, Flite Lady
Gel Flow Saddle, 12-27 Cassette , Conti GP4000 Tires.

I currently ride a size cm Cervelo Dual and was told that the effective size of this bike is 47 to 51.

I know nothing about these bikes. I'm thinking it's probably not worth it. Why buy a custom bike that's not custom for me? But, on the other hand, it's a100% carbon fiber frame!!!

No end in sight

And the start of June brings more rain.
The front page of the paper today reads:
May was 2nd wettest, 3rd snowest; June halfway to record drench.

Yes, folks. You've read it correctly. It's the 2nd of June and the city of Kodiak is already half way to being the wettest June on record. Overachievers, we are. I don't mind a nice rain storm now and again, but the constant gray and pouring rain gets hold quickly.

I know my blog page looks like crap. I'm waffling on how to proceed. Does anyone out there have a .mac account? If so, is it worth the dough?

Since turning in a draft of my dissertation to my committee, I'm finding myself with some extra time on my hands. It makes me nervous and edgy. Guess I'll have to work out some more.

I'm entering a "run focus" phase of my training plan in prep for a 4th of July 10K and then the Portland Marathon in October.

Making it happen (slosh, slosh)

Should my feelings be hurt?

I always thought this was one of the cool parts of my job. Is it wrong that I get excited when I find whale poo?
